Tania + Zulfikar :: A New York Wedding

I shot Tania’s sister’s wedding four years ago on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. I was so excited to receive the call from Tania earlier this year inquiring about photographing her wedding in New York City. Adam and I were psyched, we love New York City and we were very excited that she was having an Indian wedding.

We love to learn and experience different cultures. Especially traditionally rich celebrations of two people and their families coming together.

And then there is the henna. It is absolutely gorgeous. Depending on the shapes, flowers or animals they can represent everything from lasting love to health to a divine connection. What a beautiful tradition. If I had more time I would have taken up Tania’s offer and had some done. A little divine connection? Don’t mind if I do J

There were dances performed for the couple by their friends and family and of course some of the best food I have ever had. We loved the food so much that when we got back to San Diego we went a little nuts in a local market and bought an insane amount of Indian spices.

After the wedding in NYC Tania and Z were going back to India to have another celebration. I checked flights as soon as they told me. I have never been to India before and I’m just waiting for an excuse. It wasn’t meant to be at that time, our calendars wouldn’t allow it. But soon.

We wish a lifetime of love for Tania and Zulfikar and thank them for inviting us here to NYC. And be sure to come see us in San Diego!
