What a fun time I had photographing Melissa and Julian up in Los Angeles for their engagement session! I love opportunities to shoot in new places and the Disney Concert Hall was right up my alley: reflection galore!
Last fall, after I created a blog post about our trip through the redwoods, I got an email from Melissa saying that her parents had actually met in Memorial Park in San Mateo. It’s such a special place for me – I have many great childhood memories there – and it’s amazing that I get to have that connection with a couple that I think is really special.
When couples book us to photograph their wedding, we send them a questionnaire so that we can find out more about them. I loved Julian and Melissa’s responses, so I thought I would post it verbatim:
A. @Mel: YES! If all my money could be put toward one thing, it would be travel. Bucket list-Argentina and Costa Rica, Thailand, the Caribbean, Australia. I’ve visited about half of the United States-Hawaii and DC are my favorites so far. I actually thought I’d end up in Boston for college because I was so fascinated by the East Coast. I only made it to Southern California, but I like it alright. =o) I spent 4 months studying abroad in Copenhagen, and had the opportunity to visit 10 or so countries while I was there. I would LOVE to go back. Lots of fun stories, but I’ll focus on a proud moment- I FINALLY had the chance to put six years of receiving an ‘A’ in French to good use! Taxi drivers in Belgium, Italian servers in Torino, Spanish bartenders in Barcelona…I parlez-vous(ed) with anyone that would speak to me! Now I have to go learn Spanish because I’m teaching in Southern California and marrying an Argentinian. Go figure!
@Julian: Also been to Europe with my friends-road trip in Ireland, tapas and sangria in Spain, sightseeing in Italy. Family trips to Mexico and Argentina. I like to travel anywhere where there’s sun, sand, beach, and a nice cold beer. Typical vacation agenda: Nothing, just lay in a hammock. Bucket List: Central America and Australia. Interesting story? Another proud moment- I was excited to visit Northern Spain because for the first time my last name sounded familiar to someone-Belagardi. They thought I was a local.
