Kids In Their Native Habitat

For me, the woods, and more specifically, the redwoods, constantly inspire my imagination and spirit.  I don’t know what it is that happens, but when I get into the woods, my inner child comes alive; I am filled with all sorts of wonder and ideas, almost as if I am ten years old again.  I want to play, splash, run, jump, find a walking stick, make a bow and arrow.  What is it about this magical place that makes my spirit come alive?  The woods have so much to teach us.

This past weekend, we brought the kids down to Memorial County Park (located in San Mateo County) for a quick walk through the woods on our drive from Woodside to the coast along Highway 84.  I saw my kids come alive in a way that I rarely get to see and felt the beauty and joy for life through the eyes of my kids.
