Hitting the road is what we love best – so getting the opportunity to photograph my cousin Todd’s wedding in Miami Beach was something Shawna and I were excited to be a part of. Well, I would have been in Miami Beach anyway to celebrate the wedding, but making sure every moment was captured properly was something very important to me.
Todd and Carolina are two of the hardest-working people I know. Their journey towards each other was filled with hardship and challenges but I know from seeing them together that together they are so strong that they will be able to withstand any future challenge. They met while at medical school in Grenada. They formed a great friendship that turned into a loving and supportive relationship. After medical school they did internships in Florida and New York. The matching process for medical residencies is crazy and I won’t even get into it here, other than to say that there was a real good possibility that they would not be matched into the same program, thus having to live possibly several states away from each other. I believe in the power of hard work and karma and knowing this couple, I really was not all that surprised to hear that they got matched into the same program at Penn State. What a relief that was to our entire families! Although the residency program is filled with long hours and incredibly hard work, they get to do this together, to support each other every step of the way….which will undoubtedly be how they live the rest of their lives together. They are each other’s rock.
